It's been a month since I've seen a film that I would label 'Essential' so I thought I would highlight an upcoming feature that will be. With
A Serious Man it seems the Coen Brothers have once again put together the kind of black comedy that causes you to rescale your assessment of all other films in the year. No doubt fans of the pair will have already
seen the trailer - one look should have you convinced that their return to true black comedy (possibly their darkest) is a welcome return.
This weekend I'll be taking in the last of five films on my schedule from the
NZFF. My most anticipated, Pedro Almodóvar's latest feature with Penélope Cruz once again in lead,
Broken Embraces. ¡Me encantan las películas de Penélope y Almodóvar!
