Mammoth
(2009)
Lukas Moodysson (Lilja 4-ever) offers up another thought provoking piece of cinema - this time with some heavyweight star support from Gael GarcĂa Bernal and Michelle Williams (unfortunately not the best performances of either careers). The themes of this films stuck with me for days after viewing and I was quite affected by the way it attacks globalization and capitalism in such a legitimate way. The fatalistic exploration of the direction we are all heading is disturbing - we are out of balance and the only solution is to hold the course? Or maybe I am giving this film too much credit - whatever the case, it is a beautifully directed guilt-trip.
